Office of Technology and Commercialization (OTC) E-commerce Site
- Description:
- The University of Minnesota's Office of Technology and Commercialization manages licensing of all intellectual property developed at the University. The OTC portfolio contains an impressive array of IP in medical and life science fields as well as information technology, hardware, and software that generated approximately 95 million dollars in gross revenue in 2009. Amazingly, the OTC processed every license manually - a Herculean task that needed a clever solution before the system collapsed.
- Problem:
- A tedious and time consuming, manual licensing process was inflating costs and delaying critical time-to-market schedules.
- Solution:
- Creed worked with the client's Darren Cox to develop an e-commerce site that automates the licensing of the U's products. Darren said, "Creed came up with a very innovative solution that has turned many heads in the industry. In fact, the solution is so innovative that the University of Minnesota has launched a new business unit, called the Commerce and Search for Technology Transfer unit, to sell the automated system itself to other universities."
- Features:
- Full e-commerce system, administration interface for client updates, billing and inventory modules, terms and conditions builder.
- Services:
- Project Management, Information Architecture, Design, and Development.
